Watched the fabulous Discovering Tchaikovsky with Charles Hazlewood last night, which apart from throwing open old doors on all sorts of dusty nooks of Romeo + Juliet, produced this quote from Mussorgsky:
German composers examine and explore and only then do they draw a conclusion. Our Russian brothers, on the other hand, make their conclusion first of all. And then they play with it.
Perhaps just a coincidence but this is one of today's recommendation from Arts & Letters Daily
