I saw two crashes within five minutes on the way to work today. About eight in the morning, one - a van colliding with a woman on a bike with her toddler - on the corner of New Inn Yard and King John Court, the second - a van flipping someone off his motorbike - on Shoreditch High Street. Neither of them fatal, or even serious as it turned out, but both of them shocking.
I'm lucky enough not to be shocked like that very often.
But it was one of those five minutes that burst a bubble.
Sometimes I think life is a series of all sorts of different bubbles, that you blow up without knowing. Every now and then one of them bursts. And then you need to blow it up again, a little bit more aware of what you're doing than the time before. (I'm thinking maybe I'm still in shock).
